Now that I’m Older

Who knew I needed water,

Maybe the doctor.

For a flower to blossom,

Now that I’m in college I know the problem.

Water is the answer to health,

Which now I know means more than wealth.

I’m still a parched sunflower,

Because isn’t the daily intake equivalent to a shower?

But here I am growing,

While the younger flowers are groaning.

I know I’ve grown up considering I talk about drinking water,

I can already hear myself nagging my future daughter.
