The Story of America

Tue, 05/02/2017 - 18:01 -- nmp2017

Stunning America, a special child from birth/Freedom her absent father, Liberty her mother/At a ripe young age she would have to prove her worth/And join forces with Justice, her unborn brother/ When Justice was born, a premature being was he/His parents and sister feared for his underdeveloped heart/As he began to grow up, his family would soon see/Instead of joining together with his sister he would part/ Nevertheless, America grew up and bore a strong brood/Of Americans, people united in her glory/A people who fought with patriot mood/Whose actions would ultimately define her story/ With her brother gone, America would quickly realize/Her children of many colors would blend with uneven tone/She couldn’t seem to control their racist tongues and hateful eyes/And the siblings separated, each color to their own/ America cried out for Justice, who appeared to her near/He confessed his weak heart would help little, if any/She embraced him and insisted he again should never fear/For she would help strengthen his heart, slowly, but plenty/ Today, America is still strengthening Justice after 241 years/Though he’s made commendable progress, much is left to do/ While her children have grown closer, they still hold fears/Of separation and divide, as political and social issues continue to brew/  Even America’s parents continue to fight in their old age/The foes who wish to break the powerful family of four/“Prepare yourselves, children, for war we will wage/If our enemies challenge our might, our spirit, our core”/  These threats from the outside world do not come alone/For America’s children are falling victim to devilish jewels/Drugs, abuse, guns, morals traded for the iPhone/“Please God,” America prays, “don’t turn my children into fools”/ “Let them unify despite their differences of race, color, age, and wealth/As this will be their strongest and most impactful means of survival/Let them work hard and build individual drive,  both mainland and commonwealth/Only then could their once-resilient backbones undergo a much-needed revival"/ As a child of America, a product of parents who serve in the armed forces/I pray for the awakening of our people, the prosperity of our land/Our military does not serve so America can weaken due to domestic or international sources/Rather, they serve to see America rise, always united will they stand
