Merely What I Am...

With just a glimpse you may see that I fit the standard of a "girly girl"

Blonde hair, green eyes, makeup on my face

That is merely what people see from a glance

I am not your typical southern belle

My parents raised me to believe that I can be who I want to be

And that smiling in someone's face and bashing them behind their back was not being polite

See in the South, women know their place

They are to do as their husband says and not have a thing to say about it

Submissiveness is key to a good relationship

Opinions?

Why have a thought of your own when you could have a man think for you?

I am for fighting back

For telling someone no

I am for speaking up

For telling someone I didn't like they way they treated me

I am for being me

And not the girl they think I should be

With just a glimpse you may see that I fit the standard of a "girly girl"

Blonde hair, green eyes, makeup on my face

That is merely what people see from a glance

But I am a strong woman

With intelligent thoughts and worthy opinions, and passion in my blood

That is merely what I am

This poem is about:
Me
