Being from my parents those who created me                                                                                     

I am from that pizza, pasta for which I have quarrels with my siblings

From that lemon tree in the backyard which grew up with me

And the song “Happy” because that’s what I always try to be.

I am from rumors and judgmental remarks.

From not relying on others and school not being a choice but a step closer to success.

I am from long days at school

And hurrying home to watch tv

From chocolate chip cookies at aunts house

Those imaginary friends and the games we used to play

Like doctor and patient

Teacher and student

I am from those rainy days,

Those board games

From Saturday cartoons and cheerios

From barbies and baby dolls

I am from spicy Indian food

From the city of bollywood to hollywood

I am from big parties and celebrations

Not from wealth but always from love

I am from the clouds in sky

I am from being myself.
