Weeping Willows
As Summer days
Faded to winter night
She became a weeping willow,
Crying on her pillow.
The chill of the air
Nipped at her cheeks,
Wind blowing tears into her eyes,
She became so sad.
Every song sang by the world,
Every sunrise awaking the sky,
It all brought back what she tried
To forget.
The whispers of the trees
Told her toe truth
He had told a lie.
He had been known for leaving doors open
Though as August turned to October
He shut the door for the first time.
Promised to be back in the nick of time,
Returned for a quick feast,
Devoured his meal,
Then left before she could beg him to stay.
He kissed her cheek,
Told her she was weak,
Wasnt even missed,
Good for nothing.
He left her to wipe
Away her own tears.
She remained in thought
As her eyes began to dry.
Thirty years ago,
He stole a precious thing.
No time for her to feel
They were reckless ones,
Didnt think of what was to come.
Time has caught up now,
He’s running around with a heart that’s not his.
Promised he’d be back real soon,
He went far away,
Told her he’s there to stay,
Wondered astray.
Daddy,
She’s weeping herself to sleep,
She’s fallen to deep.
Daddy,
You left us alone.
Daddy,
Please don’t return home.
You are unwelcomed,
You made your choice,
We don’t need you anymore.
These weeping willows
Have taken enough lows,
They’ve been watered enough,
Learning how to peacefully
Sway and grow.
Daddy,
You are gone
And that’s okay.
