Stillness

There's a stillness

to the air.

Quiet fills the space.

Soffocating

in it's entirety

at the center

lies a soul

scarred and fading.

Tears stream

from closed eyes.

She's so tired,

so worn,

from hateful

bitter words

 that rain down

on her

then dig

under her skin

and burrow

into her mind.

It would be easy

so easy.

The flex

of a finger

and it all ends.

Can she do it?

How can she not?

Desperation fills her

a sense of urgency.

Now or never.

The tears stop,

eyes harden,

the trigger

is pulled,

her grip

is slack.

A bang

fills the room

then silence.

There's a stillness

to the air.
