It's not something we like to think about, but everyday animals are abused, abandoned and neglected. And it doesn't only affect house pets like cats and dogs: exotic animals are also at risk. Circus animals are the most often mistreated: Elephants who perform in circuses are often kept in chains for as long as 23 hours a day from the time they are babies.
